COVID-19, A Unifier?

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”—2 Corinthians 4:8-9

As we watch this virus infiltrate our lives causing massive disruption, it is hard to think of a positive. We wait as the numbers climb. We "shelter in place" hoping to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. We look forward to the day when we can gather with friends and family. We wait and wonder...

But I noticed one thing that the Coronavirus has done - it has the unique ability to unite us. It is the common threat against us and we close ranks against it. Our differences melt away against this deadly pandemic.

The virus is indiscriminate. It has hit almost every nation around the world. It is blind to gender, race, religion or political party. Amazing that something so lethal can show us how to diversify. And in the days and weeks to come, we need to remember this lesson.

Below are the words from the song "We are One in The Spirit" or some know it as "They'll Know We are Christians by Our Love." These are words to inspire us and remind us, as Chrisitians, this is what our faith teaches us - to unite in compassion. The COVID-19 is reminding us that this transcends the conditions of our world. That we can and will overcome the pandemic and will join with others to weather the storm together.

May God bless and keep you!

We Are One In The Spirit We Are One In The Lord

And We Pray That All Unity May One Day Be Restored [Refrain]

And They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love, By Our Love; Yes, They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love!

We Will Walk With Each Other We Will Walk Hand In Hand

And Together We Will Spread The News, That God Is In Our Land [Refrain]

We Will Work With Each Other We Will Work Side By Side

And We’ll Guard Each Man’s Dignity, And Save Each Man’s Pride. [Refrain]
